Growing up as a hip-hop kid in the late 90s-early 00s in Hawai’i, @tassho FKA Emirc was a household name. From working with Kanye West, Kid Cudi & G.O.O.D. Music to having his own sneaker line with Run Athletics, he had a big hand in curating the underground music & streetwear scene in Hawai’i. I have so many memories walking from my papas house to Pearlridge shopping center ready to cop the newest “Flip The Bird” gear from Prototype or catching the bus from Kaneohe to ward warehouse to check out IN4MATION & DIGSHI hoping I’d luck out on the clearance rack lol All the different logo flips, and graphics catering to sneaker & hip hop heads made the brand stand out in the islands. “Flipping” everything was the way of the culture. From the designs to the sampling music it seemed like we flipped everything.

One of the most iconic flips of the era was Tassho’s 2004 hit record, Honolulu. Sampling The Beamer Brothers classic “Honolulu City Lights”.
